Job context
Amelia Coal Mine is situated in the Main basin of the Singrauli Coalfield in Singrauli District, Madhya Pradesh, around 37 km from Singrauli City. The mining block has been allotted to THDC India Limited, a Mini Ratna Public Sector Undertaking and joint venture of NTPC Limited and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. THDC has engaged Amelia Coal Mining Limited as its MDO. In FY2023, ACML started overburden removal and coal production. The mine is currently in ramp-up stage, with a peak rated capacity of 5.6 million tonnes per annum. The MDO scope includes access to site, finance, HEMM deployment, mine operation and maintenance, coal excavation and delivery, construction and maintenance of the Coal Handling Plant, conveyor and railway siding infrastructure, approach and access roads, power supply arrangement, land acquisition, R&R, possession of land, and obtaining or renewing EC, FC, licences, permits, and other approvals.
Major challenges

Accountabilities
- Carry out all electrical work in line with safety rules and proper PPE usage.
- Promote safety awareness through training on safe electricity handling and energy-saving practices, supported by 5S activities and visual communication.
- Estimate the electrical load required for the mine area and initiate the process for 132/33 kV power connection.
- Coordinate with the local power utility for 33/11/0.415 kV power connection for the proposed area.
- Maintain records of electrical documents, government letters, and project documents, including maps.
- Support implementation and improvement of new project ideas and Kaizen initiatives.
- Perform maintenance of electrical equipment, installations, power factor correction systems, DG sets, and earthing arrangements.
- Replace defective electrical components and carry out earthing work at the mine, office, and guest house.
- Maintain and replace defective 11/0.4 kV substation transformers and LT equipment.
- Look after AC fittings in the office and guest house.
- Work toward reducing breakdown time, improving equipment efficiency, and increasing energy conservation.
- Monitor and report safety observations such as unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents.
