Services Specialist - On Site Services

Job Summary

The On Site Services (OSS) Specialist will possess technical expertise with GE, Alstom, and other OEM turbines. This role involves hands-on machining of key rotating equipment components at customer locations using various manual and CNC machine tools.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out tasks adhering to GE's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) standards as well as quality protocols, ensuring all team members understand these prior to starting work.
• Supervise and lead repair projects at customer sites, representing the OSS team to both internal and external customers to guarantee safe, quality, and timely completion of work.
• Perform on-site machining such as milling, boring, flange facing, drilling, grinding, and turning on components of gas and steam turbines.
• Utilize portable boring bars and other machining tools to precisely machine turbine casings, bearing housings, and diaphragms.
• Conduct alignments on gas turbine casings for correct fitting and assembly of components.
• Restore steam turbine diaphragm concentricity via precise alignment to maintain efficiency.
• Employ laser and dial indicator techniques to ensure exact positioning of machined parts.
• Complete thorough pre-job planning and post-job reporting, including machine and tool preparation, parts procurement, and fulfillment of customer requirements.
• Engage in additional responsibilities such as management-assigned projects, development of innovative service offerings, delivering training, and promoting safety, quality, and customer-centric values.
• Demonstrate readiness for extensive global travel at short notice, often during outages, and flexible work schedules including non-standard weekly hours.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution, or alternatively a high school diploma plus pertinent experience.
• At least three years of experience involving power generation equipment, specifically with machining and repair of GE/Alstom and other OEM turbines.
• Proficiency in gas turbine casing alignments, steam turbine TOTO alignments, coupling honing, bore plug repair, and assorted machining and repair operations on GT/ST equipment.
• Willingness and capability to train others on the job.
• Skill to plan, organize, and collaborate effectively within a team of onsite service personnel.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to comprehend and follow English technical work instructions.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 90% of work time on short notice, including weekends and holidays.
