Job description

Role Summary

This position involves delivering a high-quality, patient-centered radiographic service, supporting the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) and Deputy to ensure an effective and efficient operation. The role requires performing general and specialized radiography following department protocols, maintaining excellent technical standards and compassionate patient care within established guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform duties under the guidance of the RSM and Clinical Specialist Radiographers.
  • Provide leadership in radiography service delivery maintaining professionalism.
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to offer a comprehensive patient-focused service.
  • Follow all departmental imaging procedures and ensure accurate patient image identification.
  • Rotate through all radiology departments, emphasizing cardiac catheterization labs, operating theatres, and hybrid theatres.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation covering CT scans, theatres, general x-rays, and cath labs.
  • Lead initiatives for quality improvement, ensuring compliance with standards and policies.
  • Engage in service planning, development, and enhancement activities.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and participate in quality assurance practices.
  • Report incidents using the Q-Pulse system, escalating concerns to Clinical Specialists or RSM.
  • Continuously update skills and knowledge in radiographic techniques and participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Support research activities and assist in training junior or less experienced radiography staff.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the Radiology Services Manager or Clinical Specialist.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a diploma from the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic) or a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Registered with a professional regulatory body such as CORU or an equivalent organization.
  • At least three years of post-qualification experience, covering a wide range of exams including general radiology, CT, and cardiac catheterization lab procedures.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a radiographer team.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the capacity to perform effectively under pressure.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Shows evidence of ongoing professional development efforts.
  • Exhibits a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation.
  • Shows flexibility in role assignments and willingness to undertake additional responsibilities as needed.
