Overview
Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Pipelines Engineer to join our engineering team based in Doha, Qatar. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to support major Front End Engineering Design (FEED) projects by collaborating closely with designers and engineers to develop project specifications and detailed designs from conceptual data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a team of engineers and designers specializing in pipelines and related disciplines.
- Ensure all pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC project deliverables comply with applicable standards for oil and gas processing, production, export, and carbon capture initiatives.
- Supervise engineering work to guarantee quality, adherence to standards, and cost-effective solutions.
- Fully comply with Wood's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, ensuring work is performed safely and with environmental responsibility.
- Evaluate design output from third-party vendors; actively participate in HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, reliability studies, and safety and technical facility audits.
- Assess existing field facilities and pipeline capacities to detect bottlenecks and areas for optimization.
- Identify and evaluate potential applications of emerging technologies.
- Develop and mentor local engineering staff to build capability within the team.
- Understand environmental management requirements according to ISO 14001 standards for oil and gas project designs.
- Apply safety design principles throughout project life cycles, including methodologies like HAZID, HAZOP, HAZAN, IPF classification, QRA, fire and gas mapping, and risk analysis.
- Conduct life cycle cost analyses for pipelines projects.
- Prepare technical packages for requests for quotations (RFQs) related to pipeline scopes.
- Develop engineering estimates, construction material requirements, scheduling, resource planning, and update capacity plans biannually.
- Provide expert engineering input in areas such as risers, subsea pipelines, landfalls, subsea manifolds, and onshore pipeline design.
- Coordinate effectively with construction engineers and installation teams.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to pipelines from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in offshore/onshore oil and gas, petrochemical, or marine industries.
- Minimum five years in a similar senior engineering role with major international oil and gas, petrochemical, or marine projects, including three years within an engineering or contractor organization.
- Proficient and experienced with ASME, API, ISO, DNV, and Shell DEP codes and standards applied to pipeline design and construction.
- Familiarity with pipeline engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, MathCad, CAESAR II, Abacus, and ESRI/GIS is preferred.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
