Role Overview
The Senior Analyst in Supply Chain plays a critical role in streamlining Rakuten Kobo's global supply chain processes, directly influencing the efficient delivery of eReader products and accessories to customers worldwide. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain, this position demands a highly organized and analytical professional capable of managing procurement, order fulfillment, and reverse logistics. This role involves managing vendor relations, analyzing forecasts and inventory, optimizing supply chain models, and continuously improving supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily communications and relationships with Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) partners and numerous vendors to coordinate procurement and delivery schedules.
- Execute purchase orders following monthly planning, ensuring compliance with deadlines and specifications.
- Lead onboarding of new vendors and monitor vendor performance to ensure timely, in-full deliveries and adherence to quality standards.
- Validate and reconcile invoices, resolving discrepancies swiftly with vendors and finance teams.
- Analyze demand forecasts, capacity, inventory, and sales data to identify risks or opportunities, providing actionable insights to management and cross-functional teams.
- Track Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs per project and report trends to senior management.
- Utilize advanced Excel capabilities to develop and maintain supply chain reporting and performance tracking.
- Oversee order fulfillment logistics by coordinating delivery communication and managing return processes with third-party logistics facilities.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in returns and order statuses while maintaining precise documentation.
- Pursue continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancement opportunities and updating procedural documentation accordingly.
- Manage special projects and address unresolved issues with designated resources promptly.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in supply chain within technology, consumer electronics (such as eReaders, mobile devices, IoT), or consumer packaged goods sectors, with proven knowledge of industry specifics.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-level ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite to manage complex supply chains.
- Well-versed in end-to-end supply chain operations including demand planning, procurement, fulfillment, and reverse logistics on a global scale.
- Basic familiarity with product lifecycle management, including support of new product launches.
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data modeling for deep data analysis and reporting.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational, ownership, and follow-up capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills for effective collaboration with multicultural internal teams and external vendors.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities to convert complex data into actionable business solutions.
