Job Purpose

This role involves executing routine analytical techniques following established sample preparation methods to produce accurate assay pastes representing original samples.

Reporting Structure

The role reports directly to the Sample Preparation Shift Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare samples ensuring quality and quantity that reflect the original material accurately.
• Comprehend and implement sample preparation procedures safely and carefully.
• Conduct maintenance of sample preparation equipment during the day shift.
• Deliver high-quality prepared samples to all laboratory sections.
• Consistently wear personal protective equipment and follow hygiene protocols.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and report all incidents promptly to supervisors.
• Support and adhere to SGS Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment procedures conscientiously.
• Engage actively in shift activities to fulfill customer processing demands.
• Report and coordinate maintenance needs to ensure smooth operations.
• Keep workspaces clean and assist in routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow all sample preparation instructions precisely.
• Maintain accurate record keeping and document control systems as part of quality assurance.
• Record and address any non-conformities following procedures.
• Ensure quality control samples are collected as per standards.
• Communicate operational issues and stock shortages to management.
• Participate in relevant training sessions to improve skills.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients, government authorities, and community groups.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education of high school diploma, vocational diploma, or equivalent bachelor's degree.
• At least one year of experience in a related role involving sample preparation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in sample preparation techniques and operation of related equipment.
• Possession of a forklift license is preferred.
• English language proficiency is preferred as a second language.
