About the Role

ABC News Capricornia seeks a dedicated journalist based in Rockhampton who is eager to tell the stories of the Capricornia coast. This permanent, full-time position invites candidates passionate about crafting compelling narratives across various media platforms including broadcast, digital, social media, and video.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and present news bulletins, interviews, Q&As, and stories across all media channels, including breaking news coverage.
• Create digital articles for ABC News online and develop video content suitable for broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
• Participate in the planning and commissioning of fresh content ideas aimed at maximizing audience reach and engagement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify and create local stories that may also engage audiences across other ABC content teams.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant is able to work independently and within a team, enjoys connecting with diverse communities, and is enthusiastic about travel to cover different stories across the region. They should possess:

• Proven experience producing multi-platform content.
• Strong editorial skills, including information sourcing, analysis, and sound judgement.
• Insight into local issues relevant to the Capricornia audience.
• A current, valid driver's license.

Location and Benefits

Based in Rockhampton's ABC office, the candidate will join a friendly and experienced team serving an expansive region from Gladstone to the Capricorn Coast and beyond. • A competitive base salary ranging from $75,000 to $82,000 per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.
