R&D Mechanical Development Engineer

Role Overview

The R&D Mechanical Development Engineer contributes to delivering product and scanner designs and assemblies that meet production deadlines, cost constraints, and specifications related to functionality, reliability, safety, and performance. This role plays a key part in enabling the business to achieve its strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute parameters and test plans for both novel and current designs, ensuring validation of tolerances, fit, shock/vibration durability, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, fan performance curves, system power assessments, and acoustic profiles.
• Apply a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Work closely with management, internal teams, and external development partners to provide updates on design progress, address project developments, and resolve technical issues.
• Enhance process efficiencies and produce business-compliant products via detailed documentation and effective project coordination.
• Troubleshoot and resolve straightforward engineering problems utilizing technical expertise and sound judgment.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Have between zero to two years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in using Creo Parametric or similar 3D CAD software for mechanical design tasks.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Competence in designing sheet metal, plastic components, as well as corresponding production tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Experience leveraging CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal management solutions.
• Effective communication skills for presenting design ideas and negotiating alternative approaches.
