Job description
Role Overview
Transdev Wellington seeks dependable and motivated individuals with a strong focus on safety to join their team as Rail Operators. This position involves active participation in rail yard operations, ensuring trains and carriages are safely moved, inspected, and prepared for service. The role supports both Transdev EMU operations and KiwiRail locomotive services.
Key Responsibilities
- Coupling and uncoupling train cars
- Conducting brake testing and shunting tasks
- Preparing trains for operational service
- Adhering to Rail Operating Code and regulatory requirements
- Maintaining safe working practices within a safety-critical rail environment
- Facilitating smooth, efficient operation of the rail network
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Demonstrated strong commitment to safety and consistent quality in task execution
- Reliability, diligence, and pride in workmanship
- Effective teamwork skills and clear communication abilities
- Physical fitness and confidence to work in demanding outdoor conditions
- Possession of a full New Zealand driver's licence and access to personal transport
