Role Overview

The Project Engineer will support the successful execution of hyperscale data center construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout phases. Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, QA/QC Managers, subcontractors, and clients, this role focuses on coordinating project activities, field operations, scheduling, procurement, and technical execution. Assignments may include supporting Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Connectivity, Quality Control, and Commissioning teams to ensure safe, efficient, and standards-compliant project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project coordination and on-site field operations.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and contract documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and various project stakeholders to maintain schedules, procurement, and field execution aligned with milestones.
  • Support project scheduling, look-ahead planning, material tracking, and equipment procurement.
  • Facilitate inspections, documentation, testing activities, and deliverables alongside MEP, Connectivity, and QA/QC teams.
  • Prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and project records.
  • Monitor project progress including manpower, equipment deliveries, field work, and turnover requirements.
  • Use software tools such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360), Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office to assist project execution and reporting.
  • Support commissioning activities, project closeout tasks, punch lists, turnover documentation, and handoffs to project owners.
  • Provide cross-disciplinary technical support throughout the project life cycle based on assignment and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or large-scale construction project support.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, project scheduling, procurement processes, controls, and field operations.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, documentation, and coordinating construction activities.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts accurately.
  • Effective organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with construction management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360), Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
  • Preferred experience in hyperscale data center or mission-critical project environments.
  • Familiarity with supporting MEP systems, Quality Control, Connectivity, and Commissioning functions.
  • Knowledge of construction quality management, system testing, commissioning, and turnover procedures.
  • Experience collaborating with large general contractors, EPC firms, or mission-critical teams.
  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 10 or 30, Engineer-in-Training (EIT), PMP®, CAPM®, or discipline-specific certifications tied to MEP, QC, or Connectivity.
