Project Engineer

Role overview

The Project Engineer is an important member of the engineering function, helping ensure strong delivery performance while building trusted working relationships with customers and internal teams. The position calls for clear communication, a practical mindset, and a proactive approach to coordination and planning.

What you will do

In this role, you will support Structure Works installation and service engineers with technical guidance and on-site assistance, helping ensure every project is installed to company requirements and high industry standards. You will also be responsible for commissioning, testing, and formally handing over projects to clients and their representatives from start to finish.

You will review quality and compliance at each stage, identify any issues, and direct corrective action when needed. In addition, you will support the Design and Sales teams so that new projects, tenders, and pricing submissions align with company standards, industry expectations, and client needs.

The role may also involve technical and IT support for internal systems, including IT, Security, Intruder, CCTV, and server-related issues when required.

Key duties

• Plan, commission, test, and troubleshoot projects across Germany, with some overseas assignments as well.
• Oversee server rollouts and all related programming work.
• Review cable runs, device installation, head-end construction, final terminations, programming, and system testing.
• Ensure all projects follow SWI technical standards.
• Work closely with project managers and internal teams on engineering tasks and follow-up actions.
• Support the technical design process and help deliver complex global projects.
• Provide technical and operational assistance to SWI teams whenever needed.
• Maintain strong technical relationships with suppliers and partners.
• Confirm that every delivered project has completed a thorough technical review and a validated commissioning process.
• Collaborate with the technical team in-country and support colleagues across the EMEA region as the department expands.
• Assist with service and maintenance work, including support for field engineers, LSPs, and clients, as well as remote troubleshooting and programming help for customers, colleagues, and subcontractors.
• Follow established commissioning, QA/QC, and project sign-off procedures.
• Travel to client sites to meet stakeholders and strengthen relationships.
• Lead, supervise, and develop junior engineers through mentoring, training, and skills-building.
• Carry out hands-on commissioning work.
• Help resolve active service cases and technical issues when requested by the service team.
• Complete all job paperwork and handover documents accurately and submit them on time to keep company records up to date.
• Coordinate with client IT, Security, Health & Safety, and facilities teams to support smooth collaboration.
• Handle other reasonable responsibilities as assigned.

Additional information

The role is based in Frankfurt am Main, Hesse, Germany, and involves travel to project sites, including some overseas work.
