About the Opportunity

This position offers the chance to join Benmax at an important stage of growth and take ownership of a key business function. As one of the first members of the supply chain team, you will work closely with senior leaders, enjoy strong commercial decision-making authority, and help define how procurement is run across the company.

In the Procurement Manager role, you will oversee the complete procurement process — from identifying and assessing suppliers to negotiating commercial terms and making sure materials are committed in line with the project schedule. This is a role where you can create immediate commercial value from the outset.

As the business continues to grow, a Purchasing Officer will be added to handle purchase order execution, allowing you to focus more on supplier strategy, contract negotiation, and performance oversight. Benmax is looking for someone with solid commercial judgement, existing supplier connections, and the capability to build a procurement function that can scale with the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers according to the demand and procurement plan
• Work out pricing, delivery lead times, capacity commitments, and other commercial terms
• Create and manage supply agreements while owning the commercial relationship with important suppliers
• Raise and chase purchase orders during the initial phase, including recovering delayed order releases
• Track supplier performance against delivery reliability and on-time supply targets
• Keep a clear view of supply risks and escalate issues early into planning discussions
• Build quality expectations and inspection requirements into supplier contracts from the beginning
• Record procedures and create workflows that support effective delegation as the team expands
• Work closely with planning, logistics, manufacturing, and site delivery teams

Requirements

• Proven background in strategic procurement and sourcing, preferably in project, construction, or manufacturing supply chains
• Strong negotiation ability and practical commercial judgement
• Capability to think strategically while also working hands-on
• Experience overseeing supplier performance and supply risk, including single-source and long-lead-time items
• A structured, process-driven mindset, with experience documenting and standardising work for handover or delegation
• Clear communication and strong stakeholder management skills across planning, logistics, manufacturing, and site-based teams
• Experience in a fast-moving private-sector commercial environment where speed, ownership, and accountability are expected
• Desirable: category management experience across major spend areas
• Desirable: exposure to international suppliers and working knowledge of Incoterms
• Desirable: experience managing or developing a purchasing specialist
• Desirable: familiarity with ERP and procurement systems
• Desirable: experience building a procurement function during a period of rapid growth
