About the Role
Join Laya Healthcare at our Cork office as a Pricing Actuary, a vital position within our Commercial Pricing & Finance team. You will be instrumental in shaping sustainable and competitive pricing frameworks for health insurance products, delivering insightful financial analysis to guide strategic decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact product design, pricing methods, and overall commercial performance in a leading Irish healthcare provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, review, and maintain pricing mechanisms for both new and existing health insurance offerings.
- Ensure pricing strategies are consistent with company goals, competitive in the market, and compliant with regulations.
- Assist in developing product benefits, plan configurations, and commercial propositions with financial assessments.
- Perform annual and ad hoc premium evaluations based on claim trends and cost drivers.
- Conduct scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis to understand pricing and market shifts.
- Track and elucidate discrepancies between expected and actual financial outcomes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
- Provide transparent analysis to aid management and senior leadership in decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to Health Insurance Authority regulations through accurate regulatory submissions.
- Advance pricing methodologies, models, and processes by incorporating best practices and new technologies.
- Enhance data utilization and reporting frameworks to optimize business insights.
- Contribute toward the evolution of underwriting and analytical management information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Qualified Actuary or engaged in actuarial qualification (e.g., Society of Actuaries in Ireland or equivalent).
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Solid commercial understanding and capacity to interpret complex data into actionable insights.
- Preferably experienced in pricing or benefits consulting within insurance or healthcare sectors.
- Familiarity with Irish health insurance rules, including community rating and risk equalisation frameworks.
- Experience with data modelling, forecasting, and pricing software tools is advantageous.
