Job description

About the Employer

  • Join a leading organization that supports over 3,000 employees throughout Ireland.
  • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Tax, Benefits, and business leadership teams.
  • Be part of a company dedicated to operational excellence, continuous process improvements, and promoting employee wellbeing.

Role Overview

As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for managing the complete payroll function for more than 3,000 staff across Ireland. Your duties include ensuring payroll is executed accurately, punctually, and within compliance across various payroll groups and entities.

You will serve as the expert on Irish payroll laws, including Revenue requirements and handling complex payroll situations. Overseeing all payroll aspects such as salaries, overtime payments, bonuses, shift differentials, benefits-in-kind, pension contributions, and statutory deductions will be among your key responsibilities.

Compliance with PAYE Modernisation, taxation, social insurance, and other legal mandates is essential. You will also mentor and lead payroll specialists, establish performance benchmarks, and provide excellent service to internal stakeholders and employees alike. Driving payroll process enhancements, system upgrades (notably with Sage Payroll), and promoting automation efforts will be a priority.

Key Requirements

  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in payroll with at least three years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience managing payroll for a workforce exceeding 3,000 employees in Ireland along with strong expertise in Sage Payroll.
  • Thorough understanding of Irish payroll legislation, Revenue compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, proven stakeholder management skills, and effective people leadership.
  • Experience handling payroll audits and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience within multinational or matrix organizations is advantageous.

Employment Details and Benefits

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Hybrid work arrangement requiring 1-2 days per week at the office in Letterkenny, Dublin, or Derry; remaining days remote.
  • Opportunity to influence payroll operations, develop strategic initiatives, and lead transformative projects.
  • Prospects for professional growth within a multinational company offering ongoing learning and project leadership opportunities.
