Position Summary
The company is in search of a meticulous and creative Packaging Graphic Designer to join their team, reporting to the Lead Packaging Designer. This role focuses on the precise execution and production of packaging, requiring strong technical packaging knowledge to deliver accurate designs within established brand guidelines. While creativity is encouraged, it must align with the brand's standards. The candidate must be proficient in typography, highly organized, and capable of handling a rapid workflow involving multiple revisions and regulatory updates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce packaging designs for primary, secondary, and tertiary items including cartons, labels, tubes, bottles, displays, kits, and promotional materials.
- Generate production-ready mechanicals and print files in coordination with the Lead Packaging Designer.
- Implement updates involving copy changes, regulatory compliance, and ongoing packaging revisions across numerous SKUs.
- Review and verify vendor proofs, print files, dielines, and separations for correctness.
- Ensure precise typography, alignment, spacing, and color specifications throughout packaging materials.
- Maintain organized file systems and version control for ongoing projects.
- Assist in adapting packaging to different product shades, sizes, formats, and extensions while preserving system consistency.
- Translate creative directions and brand guidelines into consistent packaging and retail display executions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and external vendors to manage timelines and quality standards.
- Prepare files for print production, attend press checks, aid in production approvals, and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' experience in graphic design, ideally within beauty, skincare, wellness, or consumer packaged goods packaging.
- Demonstrated portfolio featuring packaging production and brand implementation work.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Comprehensive understanding of print production processes, packaging dielines, prepress, and setup requirements.
- Familiarity with regulatory copy and compliance, preferably FDA and MoCRA guidelines.
- Strong typography, layout, and production execution capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and file management proficiency.
- Ability to juggle multiple design revisions and changing priorities effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to production accuracy.
Preferred Experience
- Background in beauty or skincare packaging design.
- Knowledge of Drug Facts formatting and retail packaging systems.
- Experience with packaging vendors and understanding of packaging materials, colors, and finishes.
- Adapting packaging systems across multiple SKUs in fast-paced product launch environments.
