Operations Manager

About the Role

As an Operations Manager at Hitachi Energy India based in Vadodara, Gujarat, you will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive operations of a business unit. This includes managing production and testing activities, planning and procurement processes, maintaining facilities, directing production engineering, and supervising warehouse management. Your role will be crucial in propelling both growth and excellence in operations through adherence to the SQDIC principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to ramp up business operations in response to increasing market demands.
• Promote and maintain high standards in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) across the unit.
• Manage the execution of functions such as production, testing, facility maintenance, planning, procurement, production engineering, and warehouse operations.
• Apply best practices aimed at continuous enhancements in quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Optimize inventory control and oversee material management from forecasting through consumption.
• Work closely with senior leadership to synchronize operations with the organization’s strategic objectives ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Build and lead a motivated, high-performing operations team.
• Spot areas for improvement and develop robust business cases to implement changes enhancing speed, cost efficiency, and customer experience.
• Head cross-functional projects, including capital expenditure procurement and commissioning, to fuel growth and foster innovation.
• Ensure optimal resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency.
• Drive product transfers and support the launch of new products effectively.
• Guide and empower cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
• Maintain compliance with relevant external and internal regulations, policies, and procedures.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Brings over 12 years of total experience, with a minimum of 5 years in Operations Management within a global manufacturing context.
• Exhibits strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal capabilities.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing change and transformation.
• Skilled in process optimization and sustainable improvements employing Lean Six Sigma methods.
• Experience using ERP software, with proficiency in SAP being advantageous.
• Possesses analytical and structured thinking for data-driven decision-making.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English.
