Institution Overview
Seward County Community College (SCCC) is a two-year educational institution that offers 45 varied programs including Adult Basic Education, certificates, and Associate degrees in Arts, Science, General Studies, and Applied Sciences. Recognized among the top 5% of over 1,100 accredited community colleges nationwide by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a diverse student population of more than 2,500 spanning ages 15 to 85. The college operates within a rural area of approximately 50,997 residents across seven counties in Southwest Kansas and extends service to nearby counties in southeastern Colorado, as well as the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate learning by applying effective teaching methods tailored to a culturally diverse student group.
- Instruct courses within disciplines such as Nutrition, Public Speaking, College Algebra, Principles of Biology, and Economics, ensuring alignment with course and institutional outcomes.
- Collect, manage, and interpret assessment data to enhance educational results at course and program levels.
- Engage proactively in non-teaching roles including academic advising, student recruitment, campus committee participation, and community and professional services.
- Contribute to institutional assessment and accreditation efforts.
- Uphold and promote the college’s expectations of student roles and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Possession of a Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree in a different field supplemented by at least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.
- Between two to five years of relevant experience in teaching or a related field.
- Availability for both online and in-person adjunct teaching roles.
- Successful candidates are subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.
