Position Overview
This full-time role entails managing the processing of first and second mortgage loan applications for current and prospective members from submission through to closing. The position is based onsite at our Larpenteur Administrative office in Falcon Heights, MN, and involves assisting the processing manager in managing the department's workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process mortgage loan applications ensuring compliance with underwriting approvals, requirements, and secondary market standards.
- Prepare and issue initial mortgage disclosures within the mandated compliance timeframe.
- Request additional documentation and information from members or prospective members as needed during loan processing.
- Coordinate with third parties such as appraisers, loan officers, title companies, and agents to obtain necessary documents and information.
- Retrieve tax-assessed property values, order appraisals, title work, employment verifications, and flood certifications.
- Verify current homeowners’ insurance policies to confirm adequate coverage for all secured loans.
- Prepare and organize loan documents and mortgage files for underwriting review.
- Resubmit loan applications through underwriting systems to meet a 99% scoring benchmark by satisfying verification and stipulation requirements.
- Promote and recommend Blaze Credit Union products and services to meet members’ financial needs and support organizational growth.
- Manage loan closing procedures, schedule closings for purchases and refinances, and keep members updated on their loan status.
- Prepare final loan documents, conduct verbal employment verifications, and request updated payoff statements and insurance during closing preparation.
- Ensure adherence to laws and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations.

- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and assist with other tasks to support departmental efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar or related financial role.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading credit union processes and sharing corporate knowledge at a regional level is preferred.
- Familiarity with Encompass software is an advantage.
Physical and Communication Requirements
- Ability to interact with members and colleagues by phone, operate a computer, sit or stand as needed.
- Capacity to travel between designated offices and lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Proactive problem-solving skills with adherence to established communication templates.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly wage range for this position is $25.20 to $30.00, with exact pay based on experience, qualifications, location, and internal salary frameworks.
