Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Molecular Biologist for a 12-month maternity cover position within a pioneering biotechnology firm focused on developing cutting-edge drug delivery systems and gene therapy solutions. This laboratory-based position requires hands-on involvement in molecular and cellular biology research, supporting the advancement of novel therapeutics through a collaborative R&D team engaged in preclinical and gene therapy programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct RT-qPCR assays and analyze the results.
- Perform cell culture, transfection procedures, and assess cell viability.
- Extract DNA and RNA, quantify nucleic acids, and evaluate gene expression.
- Prepare and handle ex vivo and preclinical tissue samples.
- Utilize light and fluorescence microscopy to enhance research initiatives.
- Design, implement, and refine molecular and cellular biology experiments.
- Gather and interpret scientific data accurately.
- Keep meticulous laboratory documentation and adhere to established protocols.
- Coordinate with both internal teams and external collaborators on research projects.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a comparable scientific discipline.
- Extensive practical experience in molecular and cell biology techniques.
- Proficient in RT-qPCR, cell culture methods, and cell viability testing.
- Skilled in DNA/RNA extraction, gene expression analysis, and cellular transfection methods.
- Solid understanding of molecular biology concepts including genetic engineering and gene therapy.
- Strong analytical capabilities, problem-solving aptitude, and effective communication skills.
- Independent work ethic with the capacity to juggle multiple tasks efficiently.
Desirable Attributes
- Background in preclinical research, including tissue processing and ex vivo sample handling.
- Familiarity with gene therapy, RNA-based therapeutics, or genetic engineering research.
- Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical R&D sectors.
- Proficiency with GraphPad Prism software and fluorescence microscopy techniques.

- This is a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role.
