Job Overview

This position involves contributing to the delivery of top-quality Haematology and Transfusion Medicine laboratory services. You will work in close partnership with senior medical scientists, consultant haematologists, laboratory managers, and the laboratory team to maintain and enhance service standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine laboratory tasks adhering to the highest professional and hospital standards.
• Take full accountability for the quality and accuracy of your work in line with hospital policies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and hospital data at all times.
• Collaborate with the Consultant Head of Department, Chief Medical Scientist, and Laboratory Manager to implement new procedures and innovations following hospital guidelines.
• Manage laboratory reagent inventories, including registration, custody, and stock maintenance.
• Log and investigate any equipment or supply issues, complaints, or incidents with relevant staff, reporting outcomes as required.
• Ensure laboratory records are maintained accurately and according to policy.
• Support evaluation of equipment, consumables, and research initiatives within the laboratory.
• Assist with professional visits by facilitating introductions to laboratory operations.
• Work to ensure compliance with national and international standards for laboratory services, actively participating in quality assurance processes.
• Contribute statistical and management data to support the laboratory administration.
• Assist with the implementation and commissioning of computerized laboratory management systems.
• Utilize advancements in information technology effectively for patient care and administrative efficiency, ensuring seamless integration with wider organizational systems.
