Media Advisor

About The Role

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking an experienced Media Advisor to join its Communication and Executive Services team. This temporary position runs from 28 September 2026 to 10 January 2028 and offers flexible working arrangements. The role involves managing the organisation's public image through timely, accurate, and strategic media communications including responses, thought leadership pieces, and media monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing the team's statistical and reporting activities
• Managing external stakeholder contact lists and coordinating distribution of content
• Composing high-quality responses to media enquiries and managing approvals
• Active participation in daily media monitoring and emerging issue identification
• Producing thought-leadership articles and strategic communication materials

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants should demonstrate considerable expertise in media and strategic communications with a capacity to work effectively in a dynamic and high-pressure environment. Essential skills include drafting media releases, responses, speeches, briefing notes, and promotional materials, alongside sound judgment and the ability to meet demanding deadlines. Experience engaging with media, government, and industry figures to foster positive relationships is expected. Backgrounds in journalism or government media are highly valued.
