Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a competent Mechanical Design Engineer based in KNG Pudur Pirivu, Coimbatore, to contribute to the design and development of industrial machinery, primarily serving the automotive manufacturing sector. This full-time role involves applying mechanical engineering principles to translate concepts into tangible, high-quality machine designs while ensuring manufacturability and performance.

Key Duties

• Create and develop mechanical systems, including special-purpose machines and industrial equipment.
• Draft 2D drawings and construct 3D models using CAD software; prepare bills of materials and other manufacturing documents.
• Design layouts, build assemblies, and detail individual component designs for machines.
• Collaborate with production and fabrication teams to facilitate smooth manufacturing workflows.
• Select appropriate mechanical parts such as bearings, motors, gearboxes, and pneumatic or hydraulic components.
• Modify designs according to client feedback and manufacturing insights.
• Ensure all designs meet engineering standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements.
• Assist in prototype creation, testing phases, installation, and troubleshooting processes.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance product functionality and lower production expenses.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering and machine design principles.
• Practical experience with designing industrial or automotive manufacturing machinery.
• Proficiency in CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or CATIA.
• Ability to interpret and generate engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques including fabrication, machining, and sheet metal work.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems is beneficial.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities.

Eligibility

• Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Between 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, machine design, or SPM development.
• Fresh graduates with strong CAD skills and impressive academic projects may also be considered.

Preferred Candidate Attributes

• Experience with automotive or industrial equipment design.
• Ability to visualize entire machine assemblies and assess manufacturing practicality.
• Self-driven, attentive to details, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
