Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter to join our Engineering team in Charleville, County Cork. This permanent role involves ensuring the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing machinery within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on various beef processing equipment, including conveyors, motor/gearboxes, and packaging machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and troubleshoot issues to reduce operational downtime.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to design and implement preventative maintenance schedules to enhance equipment durability and performance.
- Replace and repair worn or faulty parts such as motors, bearings, belts, and hydraulic systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies during maintenance activities.
- Keep comprehensive records of all maintenance work and equipment history.
- Complete training sessions and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills
- Fully qualified Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter or an equivalent time-served mechanic with at least 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience.
- Proficient knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
- Experience working with machinery, process equipment, control systems, and automation technology.
- Competent in electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance, and refrigeration system management.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, appropriate for the role’s demands.
- Excellent troubleshooting and logical problem-solving capabilities.
- Valid full driving license.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Flexible availability for overtime and on-call duties.
