Role overview
This position focuses on supporting A-LIGN’s acquisition and broader corporate development work. The associate will help run the full M&A lifecycle, from identifying potential targets through diligence, modeling, transaction support, and early integration planning. The role is designed to provide strong analytical and strategic support for growth initiatives in a fast-moving environment.
Reporting line
The role reports to the SVP of Financial Planning and Analysis.
Role classification
This is a full-time exempt position.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate the full M&A process by working across internal teams, advisors, and counterparties so transactions stay on schedule.
- Evaluate confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and data rooms, then turn the findings into concise investment views and recommendations.
- Develop and update financial models, including valuation, LBO and return analyses, and buy-side and synergy scenarios used for deal assessment.
- Maintain the acquisition pipeline and work with senior leadership to source and screen potential targets.
- Manage relationships with bankers, brokers, and other intermediaries to identify and monitor opportunities.
- Organize and lead diligence workstreams across financial, commercial, legal, technical, and HR areas.
- Create investment committee and board materials such as target summaries, deal memos, and recommendation presentations.
- Support negotiation, deal structuring, and execution, including LOIs, purchase agreements, and integration planning with deal counsel.
- Keep pipeline trackers, market maps, and competitive analysis updated across core and adjacent markets.
- Work with corporate strategy on build-versus-buy analysis, sizing new service and market opportunities, and tracking post-close integration progress.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or another relevant field. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or corporate development, along with direct exposure to sourcing, diligence, valuation, and transaction execution. Strong financial modeling ability, advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, and the capacity to simplify complex information into clear recommendations are important. The role also calls for a highly organized self-starter who can manage several workstreams and senior stakeholders under pressure while meeting deadlines.
