About the Role
Northpower is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Line Mechanic to join their Construction and Maintenance team. This position involves pivotal hands-on responsibilities in building and upkeeping overhead electrical lines to ensure reliable electricity delivery across the network, including the operation of equipment up to 33kV.
Responsibilities
- Construct and maintain overhead electrical lines meeting all customer, project, and network standards.
- Assist in planning work activities related to constructing, servicing, and upgrading electricity lines and associated infrastructure.
- Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures as required.
- Overhaul non-load-bearing pole hardware within electrical networks up to 110kV.
- Operate electrical equipment mounted on structures or at ground level for lines up to 33kV.
- Perform all duties adhering to safety regulations and maintaining high professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Required registration as a Line Mechanic with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB).
- Valid New Zealand Driver's Licence is mandatory.
- High Tension (HT) Licence is highly preferred.
- Other relevant network or customer-specific competencies are advantageous.
- Demonstrated previous experience working on overhead electrical lines.
- Proven strong focus on workplace safety with an excellent track record.
- Effective team player with a positive mindset, good communication skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Experience in electrical maintenance and construction environments, especially in high-risk conditions.
