Role Overview

The Lecturer in Cyber Security will be responsible for delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses focused on cyber security and related computing fields. Key duties involve preparing and conducting lectures, tutorials, lab sessions, and assessments; supervising student projects; providing academic mentorship; and giving constructive evaluations to facilitate student achievement. Contribution to curriculum design, quality assurance activities, and engagement in research or professional cyber security practice is expected. Furthermore, the role requires collaboration with colleagues, supporting outreach efforts and industry linkages, and participation in departmental and institutional projects. This is a full-time, on-site position at the RAK Campus.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • A PhD in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related specialty is essential.
  • Proven knowledge in fundamental cyber security areas such as network security, ethical hacking, secure software development, digital forensics, risk assessment, or security governance.
  • Experience in teaching at the higher education level with skills in course creation, lecture and lab delivery, assessment design, and using advanced educational technologies.
  • A capability to embed practical and contemporary examples within teaching, alongside awareness of up-to-date industry software, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills suited to diverse student cohorts and multicultural academic settings.
  • A record of research, scholarly publications, or professional contributions within cyber security including participation in conferences or industry projects.
  • A dedication to learner-focused education, ongoing program enhancement, and involvement in accreditation and quality processes.
  • Preferred professional qualifications include certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CISM, or CompTIA Security+.
