Position Overview

We are seeking a permanent full-time Learning Adviser to join Te Kahu Tauira (Student and Scholarly Services) to facilitate student academic growth. This role predominantly focuses on delivering online learning support and blended learning opportunities tailored for specific student groups.

Te Kahu Tauira actively engages with our Kaiārahi to enhance our understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Māori language and customs, and Māori worldviews. Candidates passionate about joining us on this journey are highly encouraged to apply.

This full-time position involves 37.5 working hours per week with a salary range between $73,400 and $78,600 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Team Environment

The successful candidate will collaborate with a dedicated team of advisers who support students across all faculties in developing academic skills essential for success at the University. The team delivers online resources—like Learning Essentials and Canvas learning objects—and facilitates academic skills workshops emphasizing academic and information literacy. There are strong links with other internal teams such as Client Services, Research Services, Academic Engagement, and Digital Engagement & Communication, as well as collaboration with the Learning Design Service.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for individuals enthusiastic about supporting student learning who bring innovative ideas and a collaborative spirit. Comfort working within a diverse environment, particularly with Māori, Pacific, international students, and English language learners, is important. Flexibility, openness to innovation, and eagerness to acquire new skills are essential.

Key Skills and Experience

• Capability to develop and support online learning resources with a strong understanding of student learning processes.
• Experience in teaching, facilitating, or presenting educational content.
• Previous work with Māori and Pacific students in tertiary education contexts.
• Awareness of learning disabilities and strategies for assisting students with English language needs.
• Experience in learning design.
• Ability to rapidly adopt new technologies.
