Laboratory Assistant

Role Overview

The laboratory assistant supports practical science lessons and lab-based sessions, working closely with teachers to help deliver hands-on learning in a safe and well-organized environment. The role also requires active attention to student welfare and readiness to respond to any safety-related concern during laboratory activities.

Education Requirement

A bachelor’s degree in science, or an equivalent qualification, is needed for this position.

Core Duties

• Prepare apparatus, chemicals, and other supplies for chemistry, physics, and biology practical sessions under the teacher’s direction.
• Support subject teachers in conducting practical lessons.
• Arrange all materials needed to run laboratory sessions safely and effectively.
• Supervise the lab during classes and ensure safety rules and procedures are followed.
• Track laboratory stock, maintain an inventory of equipment and materials, and flag items that need replenishment.
• Teach students the correct and safe way to use lab equipment and materials.
• Contribute constructively to the wider school environment and community.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members.
• Take part in school plans, programs, and task forces as required.
• Engage in professional development activities.
• Participate in school self-review efforts and support the school improvement plan.
• Safeguard laboratory equipment, ensure it is used efficiently, and arrange for regular servicing and maintenance.
• Follow all relevant rules and regulations issued by the Saudi government and its authorities.
• Respect and uphold the customs, values, and traditions of the local community and country.

Skills and Requirements

The role calls for strong attention to detail, solid analytical and troubleshooting ability, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good time management, and familiarity with laboratory settings and safety standards.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Jeddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
