Job Overview
The Junior Data Analyst will support the Alberta Social Housing Corporation within the Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services. Based in Edmonton, this full-time temporary role (36.25 hours/week) offers involvement in housing-focused data analysis and reporting to inform policy and program management with a salary range from $66,884 to $87,736 annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret complex data from housing operating and capital programs to provide accurate, relevant insights for decision-makers.
- Aggregate data from multiple sources and apply analytical methods to identify trends, variances, and emerging concerns.
- Prepare clear summaries and recommendations tailored for non-technical audiences to support evidence-based planning and policy development.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and enhancing data models, dashboards, and Power BI reports for consistent program monitoring.
- Conduct quality assurance, validation, and data cleansing to ensure reliability and accuracy of analytical outputs.
- Engage with program users to understand business needs, helping translate them into analytical requirements and reporting specifications.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation such as data dictionaries, metadata, business rules, and methodologies to support transparency and future use.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in reporting processes and analytical tools, contributing innovative ideas to enhance efficiency and organizational data literacy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or equivalent combined education and experience.
- Analytical thinking with ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Experience in organizing and interpreting data to support business decisions.
- Practical knowledge in creating basic reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Strong communication skills for presenting clear information to diverse audiences.
- Capability to manage technical documentation and business requirements systematically.
