Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior BI Analyst to become a key member of our Business Intelligence team based in Nottingham. The main responsibility involves creating and sustaining Power BI dashboards that give various departments clear and accurate insights into their critical performance indicators. The post holder will collaborate closely with stakeholders in Digital, Retail, Merchandising, Buying, and Finance to understand their data reporting needs and transform raw data into meaningful insights to support improved business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain well-structured, reliable Power BI dashboards, ensuring all data is accurate and validated before presentation.
- Engage with stakeholders from different departments to identify KPIs and translate these into actionable dashboard features.
- Collaborate with senior BI personnel to interpret and verify data analyses, aiding data-driven decision-making processes.
- Assist in deploying new dashboards by collecting user feedback and iterating dashboard design to enhance usability and adoption rates.
- Manage and model extensive complex datasets utilizing Power BI tools like DAX and Power Query to highlight trends and KPI performance.
- Build a foundational understanding of semantic data models to develop scalable, reusable, and consistent reporting data structures.
- Gain knowledge of data lakehouse architecture, comprehending how data flows from the data lakehouse to reporting tools supporting BI transformation.
- Use business-wide data sources, such as customer, sales, and channel data, to provide insightful contributions to commercial and operational strategies.
- Translate dashboard data outputs into concise, easy-to-understand performance summaries for non-technical audiences.
- Apply data governance principles daily, ensuring compliance with naming conventions, access controls, and documentation standards for dashboards and datasets.
- Cultivate strong interdepartmental relationships to ensure insights drive real business actions, including tracking follow-up outcomes.
- Explore and responsibly apply AI tools to enhance working methods while adhering to strict guidelines on safe data usage.
- Maintain awareness of data governance standards and pertinent legal regulations such as GDPR, ensuring responsible and secure handling of data within dashboards and reports.
- Stay updated with Power BI advancements, industry best practices, and current trends.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields with a quantitative emphasis.
- Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities and hands-on experience managing large datasets.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Microsoft Fabric is a plus.
- Exhibits excellent communication skills with the ability to independently gather and clarify stakeholder requirements.
- Capable of presenting complex analytical findings in a clear manner to non-technical stakeholders.
- Possesses a keen curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills.
