About the Role
Winchesters, an established real estate development firm based in North York, Ontario, is looking for a Junior Accountant to enhance its finance team. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and offers an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals eager to advance their careers in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be detail-focused, proactive, and ready to collaborate while supporting a wide range of real estate development projects. This role suits individuals who take ownership of their duties, can juggle multiple responsibilities effectively, and wish to develop their accounting skills within a growth-minded setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily accounting tasks such as managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Compile and reconcile monthly bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Manage deposits, payments, and various banking operations.
- Enter journal entries and assist in month-end and year-end financial closing procedures.
- Monitor and reconcile project expenditures, loan balances, intercompany accounts, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and submit HST returns and aid in other tax-related filings.
- Maintain precise and timely accounting documentation in line with Canadian accounting standards and the company's internal controls.
- Support accounting for projects by tracking financial activities linked to development and preparing necessary documentation.
- Assist in audit preparations and provide required financial records.
- Contribute to improvements in accounting processes and participate in special projects as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related fields.
- Between one and three years experience in accounting, with exposure to comprehensive accounting cycles.
- Experience in real estate, construction, development, or property accounting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with HST filings and Canadian accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical skills paired with meticulous attention to detail.
- Outstanding organizational abilities and time management skills, capable of handling various tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a salary range between $50,000 and $60,000 annually, along with bonuses and additional benefits. This role requires full-time presence at the North York office.
