Role Overview
The Job Coach position involves delivering personalized job coaching and employment support to people with developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes enhancing work skills, job readiness, and sustained employment while advancing autonomy, social inclusion, and meaningful job placements.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer one-on-one coaching across various employment environments to enhance workplace skills, job performance, and social assimilation, targeting at least 90% successful client workplace integration within 90 days of placement.
- Conduct thorough employment assessments for all new clients to identify strengths, interests, skills, and barriers; use results to collaboratively set goals and develop customized employment plans.
- Form and nurture partnerships with a minimum of 10 new inclusive employers yearly by engaging local businesses, uncovering appropriate job openings, and advocating for inclusive hiring and accommodation practices.
- Track client progress and provide onsite or remote support to resolve workplace challenges and promote ongoing skill enhancement, aiming for a 75% job retention rate at six months post-placement.
- Encourage social inclusion and community engagement by ensuring clients participate in at least three vocational or community activities per quarter, such as job fairs and training.
- Maintain strict adherence to documentation standards and deadlines, leveraging collected data to assess employment service effectiveness and drive ongoing program enhancements.
- Champion the workplace rights of individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring clients receive needed accommodations and understand their rights, while fostering clients' self-advocacy skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; medication certification preferred or will be provided.
- Preferred six months experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
- At least one year of job coaching, vocational rehabilitation, or a related field experience demonstrating success supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to build relationships, motivate clients, and empower them in achieving vocational objectives.
- Dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace for people with developmental disabilities.
- Capable of analyzing challenges, devising creative solutions, and adapting coaching approaches to individual and employer needs.
- Proven collaborator working effectively with employers, vocational counselors, families, and community partners to improve employment outcomes.
- Strong commitment to ensuring safety in all aspects of work.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent credential evaluation for degrees from non-U.S. institutions.
