IT Project Coordinator

Overview

The IT Project Coordinator is crucial in connecting technical teams with health plan operations. Supporting the Project Management Office, this role facilitates key IT projects including claims system upgrades, provider portal improvements, and compliance adjustments for regulatory requirements such as CMS mandates and HIPAA security standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers in outlining project scopes, objectives, and deliverables that align with health plan business goals.
• Manage and update project timelines and milestones using tools like Jira, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.
• Serve as the communication link among cross-functional groups, including Claims Processing, Member Services, Network Management, and Clinical Informatics.
• Organize and document technical scrum meetings and steering committee discussions, ensuring action items are assigned.
• Ensure project adherence to healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and internal compliance standards such as SOC2 or HITRUST, maintaining documentation for audits.
• Track team capacity and budget usage, alerting management to any potential issues.
• Maintain the RAID log to monitor risks, actions, issues, and decisions, escalating technical obstacles as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Business, or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years of project coordination experience, ideally within Managed Care Organizations or Health Insurance sectors.
• Familiarity with health plan operations, including enrollment processes, EDI 837/834 files, ICD-10/CPT coding, and Pharmacy Benefit Management.
• Proficient with project management software and Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, Excel, and SharePoint.
• Certifications like CAPM or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum software development environments.
• Strong organizational capabilities and skill in simplifying technical language for business stakeholders.
