About the Role
Transpower New Zealand, responsible for the nation's high voltage transmission network connecting generation sources to population centers, is seeking an Information & Systems Analyst within its Environment Group. This role supports the management and enhancement of environmental systems, data, and reporting to promote informed decision-making and compliance within the company’s operations aligned with New Zealand’s energy transformation and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance environmental data systems, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and reliability of information.
- Support users of Environment Group systems including ENVi, Pātai, and the Environmental Screening Tool by offering technical assistance, maintaining business protocols, and driving system improvements.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards, KPI reports, and metrics to facilitate evidence-based decisions.
- Provide coordination and administrative support such as travel arrangements, monthly reporting, contract management, and organization of group meetings and events including biodiversity restoration activities.
Team Environment
The Environmental Systems & Strategies Team manages centralized environmental strategies, reporting, analytics, and technical advice on subjects like biodiversity, waste management, noise, and electromagnetic fields, fostering consistent environmental practices and decision-making aligned with Transpower’s goals.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven expertise in data management and analytical skills with the capability to evaluate complex data, identify trends, and resolve quality issues.
- Experience in supporting or improving environmental management systems or similar operational tools and reporting mechanisms.
- Strong organizational and planning skills to assist with reporting cycles, approvals, contracts, and group activities.
- Clear communication skills for advising, training, and supporting system users effectively.
- Solid relationship management abilities to collaborate constructively with stakeholders, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Formal qualifications in business administration, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Understanding of regulatory, infrastructure, or utilities sectors and familiarity with Te Ao Māori is advantageous.
