Graduate Data Scientist

About the Position

The National Basketball League (NBL) is inviting applications for the role of Graduate Data Scientist within its Marketing team based in the Greater Melbourne Area. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates eager to translate their academic knowledge into practical skills by supporting data models, pipelines, and dashboards that influence the growth and engagement of the league's fanbase.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining and enhancing models related to churn, attendance, and campaign conversion rates.
• Develop dashboards utilized by Marketing, Commercial, and Digital departments.
• Support segmentation and propensity modeling for campaigns using Braze.
• Work towards converting analytical models into actionable scoring systems and next-best-action strategies.
• Integrate data from ticketing, Braze, app, and broadcast sources into the data warehouse.
• Communicate complex technical insights clearly to non-technical team members.
• Improve proficiency in SQL, Python, and BigQuery by handling impactful projects.

Qualifications and Skills

• Solid understanding of SQL and Python programming.
• Familiarity with data pipeline tools such as dbt or Dataform.
• Experience or exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Google BigQuery.
• Interest in marketing analytics, customer relationship management, or analysis of fan behavior data.
• Strong communication skills with an eagerness to present and clarify data insights.
