About the Opportunity

Maple Leaf Foods is currently recruiting for the position of General Cleaner at their Prepared Meats Plant located at 15350 Old Simcoe Rd., Port Perry, Ontario. The facility specializes in baked goods such as quiches, meat pies, shepherd's pies, dips, and breakfast bites. This role is entry-level and offers a chance to join a team committed to quality products and a supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and apply chemical safety protocols.
• Dismantle, clean using specified procedures, and reassemble production equipment.
• Perform general cleaning duties throughout various production plant areas.
• Support production operations whenever required.
• Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas.
• Participate in cross-training programs to learn other department functions.
• Comply with standards related to product quality, food safety, and health and safety procedures.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday schedule.
• Shifts rotate between days and afternoons.
• Typical day shifts run from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; afternoon shifts run from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
• Opportunity for occasional overtime work.

Candidate Profile

• Dependable with consistent punctuality and attendance.
• Capable of effective communication with colleagues at all levels.
• Eager to engage and contribute as part of a team.
• Motivated to learn new skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment performing repetitive tasks.
• Physically capable of lifting or moving items weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
• Willingness to follow strict hygienic practices and food safety protocols within the plant.

Note: A high school diploma is not a mandatory requirement to qualify for this role.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting hourly wage at $18.80 with potential increase up to $21.93.
• An afternoon shift premium of $0.55 per hour applies.
