This opening is for a Facilities Engineer within the Mechanical Design team, reporting to the Facilities Engineering Lead - Static Equipment. The position is based in Bengaluru and focuses on delivering mechanical design engineering support for Chevron’s facilities work.

The role supports global operations, so working hours follow business requirements. The standard schedule is either 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and these hours may change depending on operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Create piping layouts, plot plans, and equipment arrangements that follow facility requirements and relevant industry practices.
• Check piping designs for safety, accessibility, maintainability, constructability, and ease of operation.
• Apply applicable engineering standards, company rules, and industry codes such as B31.3, ASME B31.8, API, ISO, and BS.
• Handle management of change activities as required.
• Verify that piping design aligns with P&IDs, process needs, and facility specifications.
• Participate in 3D model reviews, HAZOP studies, and constructability reviews, and close out stakeholder comments.
• Prepare and review general arrangement drawings, isometrics, and piping layout drawings.
• Provide technical guidance for piping valves covering design, selection, and testing.
• Develop and review material requisitions, valve datasheets, specifications, material choices, valve sizing, and pressure-temperature ratings.
• Work to the requirements of standards such as API 6D, API 600, API 602, API 608, API 609, API 598, ASME B16.34, and other applicable specifications.
• Review and approve valve inspection and test plans, quality records, certificates, and manufacturing documentation.
• Review FAT results, hydrostatic shell tests, seat leakage tests, and similar verification checks.
• Resolve technical and procurement-related queries quickly and effectively.
• Coordinate with suppliers, operations, construction, inspection, and commissioning teams.
• Produce 3D piping models using tools such as AVEVA E3D/PDMS and SmartPlant 3D.
• Carry out piping routing studies with attention to operability, maintainability, accessibility, and constructability.
• Complete quality reviews of deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.

A strong command of P&IDs, piping valves, cryogenic valves, piping materials, equipment layout, nozzle orientation, pipe routing, pipe supports, and relevant engineering codes is important. The role also calls for a practical, proactive mindset for identifying and solving design, constructability, and interface issues.

Experience with brownfield modifications, tie-ins, and facility upgrades in LNG or hydrocarbon environments is preferred. The role requires effective teamwork across multidisciplinary engineering groups and regular engagement with stakeholders. Familiarity with AVEVA E3D is an added advantage.
