Job Overview
Based in Timmins, Ontario, this role involves preparing accurate cost estimates and budget forecasts for construction projects by carefully examining plans and specifications. The estimator will evaluate purchase offers against site requirements, project changes, and costing adjustments. It involves resolving cost discrepancies by gathering and analyzing relevant information and preparing detailed budgets, reports, and project plans.
Responsibilities
- Develop construction project bids by collaborating closely with architects and other industry professionals.
- Arrange and conduct meetings with clients, site managers, and team members to coordinate project details.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and maintain awareness of safety regulations and construction advancements.
- Manage paperwork meticulously and visit construction sites as needed to monitor progress and verify processes.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid G Driver's License.
- Minimum of five years experience in the construction field.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and installation methods.
- Skilled in operating both manual and power tools including saws, hammers, and measuring devices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents effectively.
- Committed to adhering consistently to safety protocols.
- Proficiency in English and/or French languages.
- Solid understanding of basic mathematics principles.
- Good physical fitness and stamina to meet job demands.
- High school diploma combined with completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program.
