About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Department Manager to oversee all electrical engineering operations within our projects. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Principal Electrical Engineer to ensure accurate implementation of design plans and lead a team of engineers effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Principal Electrical Engineer to guarantee the correct execution of project designs and manage Lead Engineers' work.
- Prepare, review, and approve electrical engineering studies, design drawings, documents, and specifications for materials and equipment.
- Resolve complex electrical engineering issues by applying recognized principles, industry codes, and standards.
- Define scope of work for each project or proposal and oversee scheduling and acceleration of departmental tasks.
- Develop and implement organizational procedures, methodologies, and controls within the department.
- Maintain compliance with quality and safety standards across all activities.
- Coordinate activities efficiently with other departments and clients.
- Identify needs for further research or investigation to support project goals.
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning.
- Set project objectives and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Offer expert consultation on electrical design processes and engineering methods.
Leadership and Management Duties
- Make staffing decisions and foster professional growth through employee training and development.
- Manage the departmental budget and participate actively in unit budgeting processes.
- Develop and oversee quality assurance initiatives and related procedural developments.
- Recommend salary adjustments and conduct performance evaluations for team members.
- Authorize employee timesheets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with professional engineering registration and extensive experience of at least 25 years.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in oil and gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure sectors.
- Recognized expertise in electrical engineering on large-scale to mega projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering practices, economic considerations, protection methods, design, international codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.
