About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Driver to join our hospital services team. The primary responsibility is to transport blood from donor locations to the Component Laboratory and deliver blood components to designated healthcare sites, all while keeping accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely deliver and return blood components to specified locations.
- Conduct visual inspections to verify labeling, numbering, and appearance meet quality control standards.
- Place returned blood units on designated shelves and report any abnormalities to supervisors or lab personnel.
- Use the Stoplight computer system to confirm consignments meet the correct date ranges and completeness.
- Complete all necessary documentation for shipments and returns properly.
- Follow vehicle safety policies, operating procedures, and all related protocols diligently.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Professional driving experience and/or formal training is needed.
- At least one year of experience in customer service roles is required.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms frequently; may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Capability to lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly, following safe lifting protocols.
- Must have good vision including color, peripheral, and depth perception and adjusting focus.
- Exposure to toxic chemicals, various weather conditions, blood products, and biohazard materials is expected.
- Potential contact with bloodborne pathogens like Hepatitis and HIV requires adherence to safety guidelines.
