Direct Support Professional

About the Role

Help at Home is actively seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes and communities in Newton, MS. This role provides vital one-on-one support aimed at fostering independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist clients with everyday tasks such as meal preparation, housekeeping, personal hygiene, and transportation.
• Encourage engagement in community and social activities including shopping and events.
• Support clients in achieving their personal objectives and acknowledge their achievements.
• Promote client autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy skills.
• Maintain precise documentation of care provided, activities, and progress.
• Coordinate effectively with team members to deliver consistent, high-quality support.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Completion of high school or equivalent diploma.
• Successful clearance of background checks and completion of necessary training.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
• Ability to perform duties safely and respectfully in clients' homes and communities.
• Demonstrated compassion, dependability, and commitment to positively impacting lives.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or autism, including familiarity with Individual Activity Support Plans (ASP) and Plans of Service and Supports (PSS).
• Knowledge of foundational behavioral support techniques such as redirection, visual cues, and environmental adjustments.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive hourly wage starting between $13.00 and $15.00 depending on the care type. Additional benefits include weekly pay, paid training, health benefits, paid time off, and cash bonuses. This employer honors 40+ years of trusted care experience and is veteran-friendly.
