Digital Capability Advisor - Fixed Term Parental Leave Cover

Role Overview

This fixed-term opportunity at Tauranga City Council, based in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, provides parental leave cover from approximately 16 November 2026 through early October 2027. The Digital Capability Advisor will join the Libraries team, focusing on maintaining and enhancing digital systems that support excellent library services for the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth operation of existing digital services while assisting with planned enhancements and project-related tasks.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Libraries, Digital Services, and Communications, as well as external vendors, to maintain digital systems.
• Assist in managing website projects, system upgrades, and digital content requirements.
• Participate actively in project planning, budgeting, and reporting activities.
• Provide digital tools and service guidance to library staff.
• Troubleshoot and improve daily digital experiences for both staff and library users.
• Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to influence positive results.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in supporting, delivering, or improving digital solutions, preferably within libraries, customer service, community, technology, or public sector contexts.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management capabilities to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service, focusing on user-friendly digital solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical and solution-oriented mindset.
• Confidence with websites, digital platforms, systems, supplier management, and project involvement.
• Clear communication skills and capability to constructively influence others.
• Good organizational abilities with effective planning and task completion.

A tertiary qualification in information technology, library and information management, or a related field is advantageous.
