Position Summary
The Demurrage Analyst will oversee the full lifecycle of demurrage and detention processes at all mine sites under the company’s scope. This position is responsible for ensuring precise demurrage calculations, generating timely invoices, and monitoring all associated data from clients and transporters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor daily completed JOBs for accrued demurrage across all mines within the ERP system, covering both imports and exports.
- Perform adhoc manual demurrage calculations as requested by KAMs or CSMs, adhering to client contracts and site-specific rules.
- Prepare Proforma Invoices and Final Demurrage Calculations, forwarding them to relevant CSMs/KAMs for negotiation and issuance.
- Support client discussions by providing Proof of Delivery (PODs), event logs, and operational data upon request.
- Manage client feedback and disputes related to demurrage by conducting detailed recalculations and validations against system events and transporter documentation, offering clear analysis and recommendations.
- Maintain a Master Demurrage Tracker covering client charges and transporter claims for all sites.
- Review transporter claims for accuracy and suggest payable amounts to KAMs for approval.
- Distribute weekly and monthly demurrage status reports by client and site to assist with invoicing and collections.
- Ensure data integrity in ERP event tagging, particularly at border clearances and mine gate in/out points; identify any data gaps affecting calculation accuracy.
- Collaborate with operations teams at mine sites to verify actual dates when source data is missing or incorrect.
- Provide constructive feedback to the automation team to enhance system triggers and data processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Freight Forwarding, Mining Logistics, or Shipping with specific exposure to demurrage and detention processes.
- Experience managing operations across multiple mine sites or countries is advantageous.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and working comfortably with event-based data and job lifecycle management.
- Strong commercial and operational understanding of contracts, service level agreements, and the influence of mining operations on demurrage.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to reconcile dates and records across PODs, transporters, and system logs.
- Effective communication skills to clearly articulate calculations, findings, and status updates to Key Account Managers (KAMs), Client Service Managers (CSMs), and Operations teams.
- High accuracy in handling documentation, managing client feedback, and resolving exceptions.
