Role Overview

The Deep Tech Venture Building Programme orchestrates the entire process of launching startups from pioneering scientific advances. Candidates identified join as Commercial Founders who collaboratively work with Technical Founders to translate complex inventions into scalable businesses. This role entails ownership of business strategy, go-to-market planning, and execution with equity stake and shared risks and rewards.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert sophisticated technological innovations into commercially feasible opportunities by pinpointing high-value applications, customer needs, and competitive advantages.
• Develop and validate business hypotheses in close coordination with product and technical teams, iterating market fit and positioning based on practical feedback.
• Generate momentum via early partnerships, engaging enterprise customers and strategic allies to pilot projects and obtain commercial endorsement.
• Craft and implement growth strategies including market entry routes, pricing schemes, sales tactics, and collaboration channels to sustain scalable expansion.
• Build foundational commercial systems such as finance, operations, and growth frameworks to enable agile yet disciplined scaling.
• Serve as the venture’s public representative to investors, partners, and customers, clearly communicating the connection between technology and transformative impact.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated entrepreneurial initiative with experience founding or leading a complex startup, business unit, or product line from inception through execution.
• Relevant scientific or technical background at MSc or PhD level, or equivalent practical expertise in domains like AI/ML, biotechnology, robotics, cleantech, or materials science.
• Strong passion for building and iterating in ambiguous environments, driven by experimentation and action-oriented problem solving.
• Adept at bridging intricate technologies with market realities, maintaining customer-centric perspective and effective communication skills.
• Skilled at attracting and assembling talented teams to achieve venture objectives.
