Daycare Kitchen Assistant

Overview

Under the supervision of the Centre Director, you will play a vital role as part of the Kids & Company team in managing daily kitchen functions. Your responsibilities will include preparing and cooking food in compliance with Kids & Company's established standards, supporting the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in portioning meals and snacks and ensure timely, safe distribution to classrooms.
• Carry out food preparation tasks such as preparing fruit and other kitchen duties as assigned.
• Set up meal service supplies including bins, serving tools, and delivery carts.
• Gather dishes, utensils, and meal equipment from classrooms post-service.
• Wash, rinse, sanitize, and correctly store dishes, utensils, serving gear, and food trolleys adhering to food safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the kitchen workstations, equipment, storage areas, and service items.
• Help organize, store, and rotate food inventory and kitchen supplies.
• Comply with all requirements related to food safety, sanitation, allergy awareness, and occupational health and safety.
• Collaborate effectively with the Cook and Centre Director to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks to support overall kitchen functioning as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of two years' experience in a Kitchen Assistant position.
• Completion of High School diploma or GED.
• Current Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain this certification.
• Previous experience working in a daycare environment is considered beneficial.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Physical capacity to lift, push, and pull items up to 45 pounds.
