Data Analyst – Epic Reporting

Role Overview

HealthPartners is seeking a Data Analyst specialized in Epic Reporting to advance its mission of simplifying and making healthcare affordable. This role transforms complex data into actionable insights that enhance patient experiences, improve health outcomes, and facilitate cost-effective care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to analyze, validate, and visualize data aiding organizational decision-making.
• Work within an Agile team consisting of developers, data engineers, and scientists to deliver scalable analytics and reporting solutions.
• Develop domain-specific expertise and serve as a trusted advisor providing data analysis and reporting consultations.
• Translate complex datasets into understandable and actionable insights to foster analytics adoption.
• Partner with domain experts and business groups to define user requirements and leverage data analytics to generate business value.
• Design, deploy, and maintain interactive data visualizations with fellow analysts.
• Engage in strategic measurements, including analysis of ROI, KPIs, risk assessments, and domain-specific metrics such as readmission rates.
• Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and quality, often validating information using internal and external sources.
• Assist with product and business strategy through consultative, data-driven guidance.
• Conduct testing to ensure analytic solutions meet business criteria.
• Advocate for strict security and data de-identification standards, managing sensitive administrative, clinical, and claims data responsibly.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or related field such as Economics, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Social Science, Operations Research, or Statistics; or equivalent experience.
• Minimum one year’s experience with data visualization platforms like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
• Basic proficiency in SQL and relational database systems.
• Strong ability to convert complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
• Experience in extracting, integrating, analyzing, and interpreting data from diverse data sources.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-driven, inquisitive, and creative problem-solver passionate about utilizing data to address challenges.
• Proven success collaborating with developers, business partners, and end users in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Epic Clarity and Epic Caboodle or Cogito SQL tools.
• Experience with programming languages like Python or R.
• Knowledge of healthcare operations and data environments.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira.
• Interest in healthcare specific terminologies and coding systems like ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and GPI.
• Understanding software development concepts, data architecture, and system integration principles.
• Capable of rapidly acquiring new technical skills and business processes.

Work Schedule and Location

• Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
• Position is primarily remote with occasional onsite meetings; candidates are preferred to be local to support in-person collaboration when needed.
