We are seeking a Critical Environment Technician to join our Regional Operations Center (ROC), playing an essential role in the core of our data center operations. This position is based in Singapore with flexible remote work options approved by management.

Role Summary

As a ROC Critical Environment Technician, you will handle urgent alarms and collaborate closely with local teams to ensure continuous high performance of our data centers. Your expertise supports operational integrity and swift incident resolution within a collaborative, high-achieving environment. This opportunity provides exposure to data center operations details, incident response, alarm management, and the use of advanced monitoring tools and dashboards to maintain peak performance.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team underpins vital infrastructure and technologies for prominent online services like Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Microsoft Azure. Our infrastructure spans 200+ data centers across 32 countries, supporting over a billion customers and millions of businesses worldwide. We prioritize sustainability and operational optimization while meeting ever-evolving business demands.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced monitoring and analysis, applying technical knowledge and device analytics to identify trends and potential issues independently.
Manage incident response procedures, accurately reacting to incidents, coordinating corrective measures, and adhering to established protocols.
Develop strong understanding of data center systems and their interplay, focusing on monitoring aspects rather than direct operation.
Use the internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for alarm tracking, documenting details, and generating reports.
Ensure compliance with safety and security standards; participate actively in trainings and contribute to environmental health and safety (EH&S) goals.
Prepare reports, analyze operational data, and document insights to drive continuous improvements and enhance operational efficiency.
Act fully in alignment with Microsoft's organizational culture and core values.

Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.
Five or more years of experience in mission-critical service environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical or manufacturing facilities, or similar fields.
Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Seven or more years of mission-critical services experience combined with High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate’s degree, technical trade certification (military or trade school), or higher education coupled with 5+ years in mission-critical environments or equivalent experience.

Background Check & Compliance

Applicants must successfully pass Microsoft’s Cloud Background Check during hiring and every two years thereafter. This includes compliance with Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.
