Coolroom Operator

About the Role

This position is based at the Lenah Valley site in Hobart, where over 50 different milk, milk-based and cream products are manufactured annually using fresh milk sourced directly from Tasmanian dairy farms. The facility produces approximately 33 million litres every year, operates six days a week, and employs around 50 team members. Joining this iconic Tasmanian dairy means becoming part of a small, stable, and collaborative team that prioritizes reliability and safety. This job goes beyond just forklift operation; it involves responsibility for product, material, and inventory management to maintain the site's high standards and positive culture.

The work schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts arranged on a rotating roster: three days on, one day off, three days on, followed by seven days off, providing every second week off. Starting early in the day is a must.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading refrigerated trailers efficiently.
• Performing warehousing duties including managing coolrooms, goods receipt, inventory control, stocktaking, cleaning, and waste management.
• Safely collecting stock from production lines and storing it accurately.
• Coordinating with truck/delivery and LRT drivers along with site teams to resolve operational issues daily.
• Prioritizing safety by identifying hazards, reporting them, and fostering a positive safety culture within the team.
• Maintaining proper stock rotation, 5S workplace organization standards, and tidy work areas.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in FMCG manufacturing and/or warehousing logistics.
• Valid LF Forklift Licence with proven safe operating experience.
• A proactive approach to solving problems and improving work processes.
• A positive mindset capable of building strong working relationships and contributing to team culture.
• Confidence in working independently while supporting team objectives.
• Comfortable using technology such as SAP or similar systems for inventory management, safety, quality, and reporting.
