About the Role
As a Condition Assessor, you will conduct thorough inspections of transmission infrastructures such as structures, conductors, and access routes throughout the network. Your assessments will support asset management by identifying and prioritizing defects, ensuring inspections comply with industry and company standards. Collaboration with internal teams, landowners, and stakeholders is crucial to accurately gather and report meaningful data, aiming to facilitate safe and efficient network operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive condition evaluations of transmission structures, conductors, and access assets.
- Detect, document, and prioritize defects, raising them appropriately for further handling.
- Assign asset condition ratings in line with relevant transmission standards and technical specifications.
- Use digital asset management tools like Matai to capture and manage inspection information.
- Maintain updated landowner records and report any third-party activities affecting network assets.
- Complete all inspection paperwork including hazard identifications, incident logs, and other documentation accurately and punctually.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality benchmarks in all tasks.
- Participate in initiatives that enhance safety, process efficiency, and quality improvements.
- Support internal audits to uphold compliance standards.
- Ensure proper upkeep and safe working condition of company equipment, vehicles, and personal protective gear.
Candidate Profile
You are a practical, motivated professional comfortable working outdoors in a dynamic field environment. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to maintaining precise asset records are essential.
Experience and Qualifications
- Possess relevant transmission-related qualifications and industry certifications.
- Hands-on experience in transmission environments; familiarity with Transpower assets is highly regarded.
- Holding current Transpower competencies is desired.
- Have a valid, clean New Zealand driver’s license.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Competent with computer systems and confident in using digital data tools.
- Experience with drone inspections is a plus; training available for suitable candidates.
