Role Overview

This role centers on adding value by overseeing coordination of Compensation and Benefits (C&B), HR information systems (HRIS), performance management, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and review current policies as well as conduct cost-benefit analysis on existing Compensation & Benefits structures and procedures.
  • Develop, design, and execute C&B programs with active collaboration from principal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with HR business partners, HR shared services based in KL (Business Solution Centre), and joint service group ensuring uniform implementation across functions.
  • Coordinate monthly final payroll audits with the Business Solution Centre, which liaises with external payroll provider Prosoft.
  • Manage regular review, updating, and dissemination of the Employee Handbook bi-annually.
  • Oversee the annual renewal process for company insurance in partnership with brokers.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party vendors who supply benefits-related data or services, ensuring contract compliance (e.g., MHC vendor).
  • Act as primary HRIS user managing Leave & Payroll Portals (Prosoft) and SAP for personnel data.
  • Coordinate submission processes with BSC including claims such as CPF contributions, statutory leave, NS claims, and employee final settlements.
  • Manage insurance claims in collaboration with insurers and brokers (medical, insurance, and WICA claims).
  • Liaise with Union representatives for Collective Agreement renewals every three years.
  • Lead performance appraisal procedures and data cleansing activities prior to rollout in coordination with BSC.
  • Manage personnel data updates related to promotions, transfers, and position changes.
  • Oversee incentive programs including Technical Retention, Port, and Sales Incentive Schemes alongside BSC.
  • Conduct annual salary benchmarking exercises using Mercer data.
  • Prepare salary proposals for new hires and coordinate salary budget planning related to C&B.
  • Handle tax clearance and settlements for both local and expatriate staff with tax consultants.
  • Lead compliance audits internally and externally concerning C&B, statutory surveys, and labor market studies conducted by MOM.
  • Undertake other HR projects as assigned by the HR Director.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Solid practical and strategic expertise in Compensation and Benefits management, including familiarity with Employment Act provisions for blue-collar workers.
  • Clear understanding of the role of C&B in supporting business decisions.
  • Knowledge and application of employment law specifically covering field staff and labor regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify C&B challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll processes, including verification before third-party submission.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced functions like pivot tables, vlookup, and formulas.
  • Analytical aptitude to research data and communicate meaningful insights to management teams.
  • Working knowledge of SuccessFactors, SAP HRIS, and payroll systems such as ProSoft is a plus.
